Typhoon KONG-REY Approaching: Public Advised to Refrain from Mountain Activities
Post Date:2024-10-28 Released by:Shei-pa National Park Headquarters

Typhoon KONG-REY is advancing with considerable strength, making it safest to remain at home and take precautions. Mountain trips should be postponed to avoid causing concern among family and friends.

According to the Central Weather Administration's analysis of Typhoon KONG-REY, the mild typhoon was located 1,160 kilometers southeast of Cape Eluanbi at 2 a.m. today (28th), moving northwestward at a speed of 11 to 14 kilometers per hour. It is showing signs of strengthening into a moderate typhoon, and the bureau may issue a sea typhoon warning on Tuesday, the 29th. Unstable weather is expected this week, with rain likely across various regions, especially in mountainous areas where heavy rain and strong gusts are expected.

To minimize safety risks posed by the typhoon to outdoor activities, the Shei-Pa National Park Headquarters urges the public to cancel any upcoming mountain trips and prepare for typhoon conditions at home. Once the typhoon has passed and mountain roads and trails are stable, recreational activities in mountainous areas can be resumed to help minimize risk and damage.

Please note that if the Central Weather Bureau issues a sea typhoon warning, all park entry permits approved for that period will be automatically canceled. If you decide not to enter the park, please cancel your reservation online at https://hike.taiwan.gov.tw/en/apply_2.aspx.
