Subject: Snow Season Measures for Hiking Trails in Ecological Protection Area Above 3,000 Meters in Yushan National Park Effective from January 1, 2026
Legal Basis: Article 19 of the National Park Law
1. As winter approaches, temperatures in high-altitude areas above 3,000 meters of Yushan National Park remain consistently below 0°C. Some trail sections are no longer suitable for general hiking. Therefore, snow season measures will be implemented from January 1 to March 31, 2026.
2. Snow Season Measures:
During the snow season, applications will continue to be accepted from groups with winter hiking experience and proper winter gear. Detailed “Snow Control Application Instructions” can be viewed and downloaded from our website: https://hike.taiwan.gov.tw/en/news_6.aspx
3. Trails Subject to Snow Season Measures:
(1) Trails passing through sections above 3,000 meters, including Yushan Trail, Batongguan Trail, South Section 2 of Central Mountains Trail, Siouguluan Trail, Mabolasih Trail, Batongguan Traversing Trail, and Sinkang Trail.
(2) Applications for day hike to Mt. Jade Main Peak will be suspended from January 1 to March 31, 2026.
(3) The above measures do not include Yushan Front Peak or Kuhanousin Mountain Trail/Guan Mountain Trail; however, hikers are still advised to pay close attention to winter trail conditions.
(4) The Park Headquarters may adjust the applicable routes and implementation period based on snow conditions. Any updates will be announced on the official mountain entry application website.
