Trails within the Taroko National Park Ecological Protection Area reopened from 00:00 am, August  3, 2024

Basis: National Parks Law / Natural Disasters Prevention Act.

1.Routes reopened on Auguet 3, 2024:

Qilai Main/North Peaks;

Mt. Qilai Range;

Qilai South Peak;

Mt. Bilu Single Day Ascent;

Mt. Yangtou Single Day Ascent;

Mt. Bilu – Mt. Yangtou;

Mt. Pingfong (include Pingfong Cabin).

2.Routes reopened on Auguet 5, 2024:

Qilai East Ridge;

Mt. Nanhu;

Mt. Nanhu - Mt.Zhongyangjian (North Section 1 of Central Mt. Range);

North Sections 1 to 2 of Central Mt. Range;

North Section 2 of Central Mt. Range (Guimenguan Cliff);

Mt. Shuan - Mt. Lingming;

Mt. Shuan Single Day Ascent;

Other (Non-traditional routes entering the Ecological Protection Area)(The trailhead is located above the Xibao area on Taiwan Provincial Highway 8.)

3.For above mentioned routes within the ecological protection area, we will restore the application status of existing applications from the date of opening. Original applicants do not need to re-apply.

4.The opening time of the following routes will be announced latter:

(1)Mt. Qingshui and Zhuilu Old Road.

(2)Other (Non-traditional routes entering the Ecological Protection Area)(The trailhead is located below (lower altitude region) the Xibao area on Taiwan Provincial Highway 8.)

5.Due to the persisting low pressure circumfluence above Taiwan's mountain areas from Typhoon Gaemi, areas with steep slopes are particularly prone to landslides and collapse immediately after a natural disaster (e.g. earthquake, typhoon). Please pay special attention to your surrounding conditions (e.g. rockfall, felling wood, loose or collapsed ground, flood-prone areas) and err on the side of caution. 

6.For information on the post-disaster repair progress and road traffic control and opening hours of the main roads in our park (Taiwan Provincial Highway 8, Taiwan Provincial Highway 14A, and Taiwan Provincial Highway 7A), please visit the Directorate General of Highways, Ministry of Transportation's "Smart Provincial Highways Real-time Information Service Network" ([Link]) or download the "Happy Highway APP" to obtain relevant information.
