3. The draw is generally conducted 1 month prior to the intended park entry date, and postponed to the following workday when overlapping weekends/holidays. Online application and application modification of the draw-conducted date is unavailable during the time that a drawing is held: GMT+8 from 3pm to 4pm.

The period for foreigners to apply for reservations at Paiyun Lodge is from 35 days to 4 months before the scheduled admission date. On non-holidays (Sunday to Thursday), 24 persons are allotted per day. (Applicant ratio: 10 foreign visitors with 2 Taiwanese visitors).

Conditionally Opened Route (requiring long-distance hiking experience): apply 5 days to 2 months prior to the intended entry date.

Either application form should be received before the drawing or before the vacant cabin/campground spaces are filled.

Applications can be submitted between 7:00 and 23:00 daily; applications cannot be submitted between 23:00 to 7:00 the following day due to system maintenance (but drafts can still be saved).

Yushan Draw Results

Draw time: The lottery draw is generally conducted 1 month prior to the lodging date, between 3 pm-4 pm (UTC+8:00, postponed to the following workdays at 9 am-10 am, 12 pm-1 pm, and 3 pm-4 pm respectively when encountering weekends/holidays). For fairness, equality, and disclosure purposes, lodging spaces for open routes are assigned through the open lottery draw system. An official from the Civil Service Ethics Office (or one of the department chiefs if the official is absent) will be on-site to supervise the draw. Public participation and supervision are also welcomed.

Draw Result: To those who are awarded slots, we will notify every member by email and text messages.
To those who are not awarded slots, we will notify group leader by email.
For those who apply for more than one night, your group will join the drawing for every night every drawing day. If you don’t get slots for one of the nights, you can write a letter to our Mailbox requesting to shorten your hiking plan in order to keep slots you’ve got from the lottery.

Process to Fill Vacancies

This online system will not accept applications within 7 days before ascent date. That is, alternate eligibility also expires within 5 days before the intended entry date.

After the lottery, application for Paiyun Lodge, Yuanfeng Cabin/Campground, and Walami Cabin will be on the “waiting list”. Vacancies will be filled in order of the last modification (final completion) time. Three groups will be chosen to be on the “waiting list” from the lottery. These three groups, though they don’t have slots yet, have priority to fill vacancies in order (waiting list 1 to 3). Groups on the “waiting list” could choose to wait and/or apply for other dates since there might not be slots available. In the case that the number of vacancies is less than the size of the prioritized group, the application will be approved only if the group agrees to cancel some members’ applications.

For Yushan Main/West Peak Day Hike and intermediate/advanced routes open to trekkers with long-distance hiking experience, the applications are processed in order of the last modification (final completion) time.

Modifications

For being fair and reducing the impact on the environment, it is not allowed to replace any member in an approved application. A group leader can be replaced once only.
Please download the “Group Leader Replacement Application Form” and submit it at least 1 day before the entry date. It is necessary for the group leader or the representative applicant to specify the reason for the replacement and to sign the form. Please note that for an advanced application, a foreign group leader can only be replaced by a foreigner; and a Taiwanese group leader can only be replaced by a Taiwanese.
