Mountaineering Food, Apparel, Equipment and Plan Inspection
Food
Consider weight, expiration date, nutrition, and usability of food when preparing food.
High calorie foods such as candy and nuts are highly recommended to supply energy.
Do not bring too much canned food to reduce weight and volume of food waste.
Carry more dried food to lighten the pack if water is available along your hiking trails.
Prepare at least 1 day of reserved food.
Bring appetizers or food of strong flavor to boost appetite.
Boneless meat is recommended.
Fat, protein, and sugar should be in a proportion of 1 : 1.1 : 4.8. Also prepare food with vitamins and minerals.
Use hot water rather than detergent to clean dining utensils after meals.
Do not bury or leave your food in the park. Please bring your food waste out of the park.
Clothing
Dress in 3 layers: sweat-wicking, warmth-maintaining, and protective layers.
The sweat-wicking layer should be made from quick-drying cloth like polyester fiber rather than cotton.
Females can consider wearing quick-drying, sweat-wicking sports underwear.
People who don’t like the cold can wear warmth-maintaining, sweat-wicking clothes in winter.
The warmth-maintaining layer should be made from fleece, hollow fiber, or eiderdown.
The protective layer should be able to resist strong wind, frost, heavy rain, snow, ultraviolet rays, etc.
Wear a woolen hat to protect your head and avoid catching a cold.
Wear two layers of socks: a sweat-wicking and warmth-maintaining layer.
Mountain boots should be waterproof.
Lodging
Consideration should be made to select your campground: whether it can provide shelter for your tents against the strong wind and heavy rain, whether its ground is flat, whether it provides drinking water, and whether it is easy for evacuation.
Considerations of selecting a tent include its comfort, weight, and ease of assembling as well as how much it is windproof and waterproof.
Keep at least 50 meters away from your shelter or water sources to answer a call of nature. Be sure to bury your excrement in a hole.
Do not make a campfire.
Do not make loud noises in the campground or shelter.
Keep the camping pitch clean and do not leave your garbage in nature.
Please cooperate with volunteers on duty in East Syue Trail and Wuling Quadruple Mountains Trail.
Traveling
Constantly replenish your liquid intake while hiking.
Keep at a natural speed.
Take more short breaks than long rests when hiking in the mountain area.
Along the mountain trails, climbers going downhill should yield to those going uphill.
Bring a map and compass with you to avoid getting lost.
Take the planned trails rather than shortcuts to avoid damaging the mountain trails.
